Micro Wedding Inspo+ Ideas

As Micro weddings become the standard way to celebrate ones’ nuptials in this season, couples are allocating their resources into creating a personalized experience, complete with lavish details, and intentional moments. Smaller guest lists are lending to something that was far more difficult to achieve with previously average size weddings; intimacy. Here are some trends couples are choosing to invest in to create an unforgettable (micro) Wedding day.

Welcome Kits

Welcome kits have been an up and coming trend for the past few years, particularly when it comes to out of town wedding guests. However, as guest lists have been minimized; more couples are electing to create welcome kits for each one of their attendees. Who doesn’t like to unbox a gift? It creates a warm welcome before the wedding has even begun. Some couples are using these kits to provide basic comforts like masks and hand sanitizers, while others are using them showcasing the couples’ chosen wedding theme. Personal details about the couples are commonly being featured, from their favourite snacks to their favourite song lyrics curating a special connection.

Over the top floral designs

The Toronto Star recently released an article sharing that since Covid has forced people to spend most of their time in their homes, there has been a staggering rise in floral sales. There is nothing quite like having a fresh vase of flowers to adorn your table, this has been trending on the wedding scene as well. Without having to dress up a venue with 15 centrepieces, Brides are choosing to have gorgeous table scapes, hanging florals, floral archways and many other elaborate designs. There has also been an increased focus on sustainability when it comes to sourcing their florals.

Weekday Weddings

Weekday weddings were already an attractive option growing in popularity as you can get move value for your dollar on weekdays. This has become increasingly popular because micro wedding with smaller guestlists offers couples more flexibility there is a current shift to weekday weddings. In terms of practicality it would mean far fewer people would have to request time off to attend.

Live Music

Without large groups of people to keep entertained, and large venues to fill with sound systems and party lights, couples are opting to have live music. There is an upswing in hiring live musicians because we all know there is nothing quite like enjoying the raw talent of a live artist to create an atmosphere.

Individual Cakes

Couples are indulging in beautiful individualized cakes for each guest. Each cake provides detailing and elegance traditionally seen on the multi-tiered wedding cake. Although they can be somewhat pricey and labour intensive, couples are opting to see it as a well spent investment that can double as an edible wedding favour.

Curated relaxed atmosphere

Grand reception venues were often the only type of venues able to accommodate the majority of Wedding receptions. Smaller guest lists provide opportunities to host people in much more intimate spaces. This opens doors to venues and properties that were previously unusable for weddings, such as: cafes, historical homes, even your own garden.

Conclusion

It may not initially be the wedding you envisioned, but micro weddings have opened up so many opportunities for couples to reimagine the traditional wedding day experience for both them and their guests. With less formalities and more money to spend per guest, being a micro wedding guest is sure to be an unforgettable and treasured memory.

Happy Planning!
