5 Tips for Planning your 2021 Wedding

Planning your 2021 Wedding

Well hello 2021… we’ve been expecting you.

I don’t know about you but personally I am so thankful that we are finally in a new year. Although we are still facing the current pandemic I think a lot of us are looking forward to moving forward with our plans and our lives.

For those of you who are planning your Wedding for this year we thought we would put together a list to help you navigate through these uncertain times.

Here are 5 things that you can do to ease the stress of the unknown when Planning your 2021 Wedding:

1) Contact Your Vendors- This is obviously one of the most important things to do while Wedding Planning during the pandemic. Knowing your vendors postponement and cancellation policies is key, along with any changes to their business models that has occurred as a result of COVID.

2) Stay Organized- During this time there are sure to be a lot of emails going back and forth between yourself, your venue, guests and vendors. It’s a great idea to have separate email folders for wedding related emails and a running list of tasks that have to be completed in relation to them.

3) Have a virtual plan- Regardless of the size of your guest list we can expect a lot more people to be uncomfortable with attending a wedding in person in 2021, so it’s never too early to create a virtual attendance plan. Decide what streaming platform you will use and how you will record on the day of, or if you will hire someone to take care of this for you. Tackling simple tasks like this will give you peace of mind later on.

4) Consider “I do” now and party later- Elopements and Micro Weddings are quickly becoming a popular option for engaged couples. They are opting to have their ceremony this year and their reception sometime in the future. There are many local venues in Simcoe County who have designed “Elopement” days for this very idea. Although, not ideal for some couples it is a great way to still have the Wedding that you’ve been envisioning without having to alter too many details and it allows you to save more money to invest into your reception later on.

5) Know your musts- Knowing your “non-negotiables” will be vital to your Wedding planning process and it will allow you to make the best informed decision when it comes to altering your Wedding plans or postponing as new regulations are mandated by the government. Create a vision board and talk with your partner about what are musts for the day of and what you can let go of if you have to.

There is no way to actually know what the future will bring and what Weddings will look like a month from now, much less 6 months from now. In an uncontrollable and unpredictable situation all we can do, is what we can do: prepare, plan and stay organized. The most important thing, is to remind yourself of why you’re getting married and just how grateful you are that you have that person that you want to spend the rest of your life with.
